• জাতিসংঘ (United Nation) 1945 সালের 24 সে অক্টোবর গঠিত হয়েছিল। যার Head Quarter, New York-এ অবস্থিত।
• বর্তমানে UN-এর সদস্য সংখ্যা 193 টি দেশ, 193-তম সদস্য দেশ South Sudan.
• Major Organs of UN- 

1. General Assembly (GA)

3. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) 

4. Trusteeship Council (TC)

5. International Court of Justice

6. The Secretariat. 

• International Court of Justice sits at the Hague (Netherlands), while all other organs of the UN are situated in New York (USA).
• The United Nation Security Council (UNSC) consists of 15 members, each of which has one representative and one vote.

1. There are 5 permanent and 10 non-permanent members of the UNSC. The non-permanent members are elected for a 2 years term by two thirds majority of the GA.
2. The five permanent members are – USA, Russia, UK, France and China.
3. Only permanent members have the right to veto.
4. The proverb ‘Policeman of the world’ is used for the Security Council.
